The Bellevue Resort Bohol, Over All Cook Fest Champion on the 16th Ubi Festival
The Bellevue Resort Bohol takes pride and honor to be declared as the over-call champion on the recently concluded 16th Ube Cookfest 2016. It was held last January 28, 2016 at the Bohol Cultural Center.
With its objective to highlight Ubi, as the unique culinary ingredient and come up with innovative dishes using it as a main ingredient, various resorts and restaurants gathered in a culinary battle. The Bohol Provincial Tourism Council Inc. in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Bohol Association of Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants staged the “UBI COOKFEST 2016”. This endeavors to expand the event targeting a greater amount of participants and fans from various schools, universities, and tourists.
The first Ubi Festival was held in January of 2000. Though not as popular as Sandugo Festival, this occasion is one way for Boholanos to manifest their gratitude for a good harvest. The festival usually displays various Ubi delicacies and recognizes the biggest Ubi harvested annually.
“This only proves that our resort is a top-notch, not only in providing warm Boholano hospitality and distinctive stay experiences but also in the culinary offering that delights the palate of our guests.” said Rommel Gonzales, Resort Manager of The Bellevue Resort Bohol.
Led by the resort’s Executive Chef, Eugene San Juan, the team displayed a creative characteristic approach by infusing Ubi at the main ingredient of their dish. “Ubi is very flavorful that if you will infuse the correct mixture of hand picked ingredients and spices, it will come out as a wonderful delighting dish.” said by Chef Eugene.
