Uling Roasters Brings Cheer to Home for the Elderly
Since March, elderly people have been staying home and are taken care of by their families. Not so for the residents of Saint Pio Home for the Elderly in Marikina City.
“Before, dinadalaw sila ng mga family nila,” said Jenny Manalo, the home’s head staff. Ngayon na may pandemic, bihira na lang ang mga dalaw. Puro videocall na lang ang usapan nila. Kaya nalo-lonely sila – dahil hindi nila nakakasama ang family nila”.
With this plight in mind, Uling Roasters decided to bring joy to the facility’s 23 elderlies last Friday. Uling Roasters’ crew brought dozens of their famous litson manok to the home’s lolos and lolas, who were overjoyed at the act of kindness.
“Malaking bagay sa kanila na may [nakakaalala sa kanila],” said Manalo. “Masaya sila dahil alam nilang merong nagmamahal, merong tumutulong.”
Manalo also said Uling Roasters’ Zero Antibiotics Chicken is an added treat for their residents. Being more vulnerable to diseases, the home’s residents need to eat only the healthiest food, she said.
Thanking Uling Roasters and Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. (BAVI) President
Ronald Mascariñas, Manalo shared that she would never forget the
unexpected support.
