Little Things, Big Moments: Redefining What It Means to Indulge Yourself This Holiday Season

Life can be brimming with so many things for many moms. Especially during the holidays when responsibilities, errands, and demands seem to double (if not triple!), taking the time to indulge in a moment that’s strictly your own can feel almost next to impossible.

Yet this is a much-needed time that everyone needs. For moms, especially, having a moment where you can sit back and indulge can make all the difference not only for you, but for the people around you in the long run.

Here’s why: when you take time to celebrate yourself, you also make space in creating moments that you can share with those who matter. As the old adage says, ‘You cannot pour from an empty cup.’ When we feel recharged, rewarded, and celebrated, it comes more naturally for us to outpour the same energy to those who orbit around us.

With the holidays just in the horizon, this is the perfect time for us to remember what the season really all is about. While it may be a time to honor and spoil our loved ones, it’s also a moment to indulge one of the most important people who deserves to be celebrated: YOU.

Little things, Big Moments

One of the biggest misconceptions in life is that you can only indulge once you’ve accomplished a big goal. When it comes to rewarding yourself, no task is too small to be celebrated. Did you finish your Christmas shopping early or managed to have all the gifts wrapped and ribboned? That’s a win, especially on top of your usual business, and deserves to be celebrated!

It’s easy to underestimate these moments while caught up in our daily routines especially during the hustle and bustle of the holidays, yet when put together, they are also the ones that make up the best of our day-to-day life. By celebrating them, we find the special in the ordinary and make better moments, memories, and experiences in the long run.

The Art of Indulging

You might say: “I want to reward myself, but I don’t have the time to do it!” The reality, however, is that Indulging doesn’t mean you have to pull out the bells and whistles to celebrate something. Just like how life’s biggest wins can happen in the most mundane moments, you can also turn an everyday moment into one that feels rewarding for you.

It’s all about knowing what simple delights can turn an experience into a special one. For many of us, for example, having an indulgent treat can instantly turn an ordinary occasion into something memorable—and yes, this applies even during the holidays where there seems to be misconception that you need to go all out to truly honor the season. Did you manage to put up the Christmas tree in time with the rest of the family? Invite them to enjoy your favorite ice cream to celebrate! Or maybe, you want to have a tub to yourself under the mistletoe. Whatever your choice is, it’s these moments that make memories even more indulgent when you look back into them.

When you make simple habits like this a practice, you also master the art of sharing simple indulgences with others, holidays or not. You start to learn how to make your own moments special not only for you but for the people around you. All of a sudden, indulging with family, friends, and loved ones can feel just as special when you share a tub of ice cream together.
