CCA, Manila to hold ‘Wine & Learn’ exclusive masterclass with Chef JC de Terry of Terry’s Bistro
The country’s pioneer and top school for professional culinary education, the Center for Culinary Arts (CCA, Manila) gives gourmands and cooking enthusiasts a rare, up close chance to learn and experience Spanish gastronomy straight from an esteemed Spanish culinary master, the legendary Chef Juan Carlos ‘JC’ de Terry.
Via a special partnership with CCA, Manila, Chef De Terry will be conducting “Wine and Learn” exclusive masterclass cooking sessions on September 23 & 30, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Terry’s Bistro in Pasong Tamo Extension, Makati City. Assisting him on this exciting class is Chef Raul Avila.
For his two-day, two-part cooking sessions, Chef De Terry will be bringing his distinctive Spanish expertise as he teaches participants the essentials on preparing some of his Spanish specialties: for Session 1 (Paella, Sangria Churros), the immersive encounter commences with a paella cooking demo, followed by a serving of sangria and finished off with a churros dessert and chocolate. Session 2 (Essential Tapas) meanwhile engages participants to freely explore and push new creative boundaries as they learn to whip up favorites like croquettes, patatas bravas, and other recipes.
Class fees per person are Php2,500 (one session) and Php4,000 (two sessions). Both inclusive of ingredients per session.
The exclusive cooking sessions also serve as an intimate wine-and-dine activity that further elevates the overall learning experience. Apart from gaining new insights, participants get to enjoy Chef De Terry’s sumptuous dishes along with a perfectly-matched complimentary drink. To access Terry’s Bistro’s wider selection of quality wines, guests need only add Php500 to complete their Spanish culinary exploration.
Chef De Terry is widely regarded as one of the leading authorities on Spanish cooking and is in fact known to have elevated the Filipinos’ love for Spanish food and wine. He is well-known to many as the ‘King of Spanish cuisine’ after establishing Terry’s bistro, one of Manila’s finest restaurants with branches in Makati and Ortigas.
According to Ana Beatrice Trinidad, CCA Manila’s PR and Business Development Director, the collaboration serves as a lifestyle track and a teaser for a longer program that CCA will have with Chef De Terry.
“We are looking at launching a professional track that is all about Spain’s regional cooking (Valencia, Basque, Navarra, and Galicia). On a side note, these special classes highlight the extensive CCA network. Also, we are looking at partnering with reputable personalities for the benefit of our students,” said Trinidad.
