Amazing 15 Years!

Marlon Aldenese – Advertising Sales Manager, Magnolia Silvestre – Managing Editor, and Chef Dino Datu – Editor in Chief
15 years. At a time when the threat of print losing out to online is very real, being published for 15 straight years, every single month is quite a feat. It means 180 issues conceptualized, written and produced, laid-out, proofread and edited, post-produced and printed. 180 magazines created for the sole purpose of sharing our passion for food and everything related to it. There are of course battle scars to show for all those years, mostly in the weight department. While the Cook staff cannot claim to be petite or lanky when we first joined the team, we collectively gained a bit more than just 15 pounds. Actually, we probably gained about 2 pounds per year, each of us. I was actually contemplating on looking for old pictures to use for this month’s editor’s note. Partly to show that we were once just a bit thinner, but more to see how the years were good to us. Imagine having a job where you get to test recipes, eat out (for free!), go on road trips to eat some more, and most importantly, do all these with your best friends – are we lucky or what ?!
Cook Magazine’s journey hasn’t been without bumps though. Like any other good journey, we had to go through rough patches too. But everything happens for a reason and our common love for food and Cook Magazine always brought us back. I am proud to say that Cook has never been better. Our team considers each member as family, which in turn produces a better product. It fills me with pride when people comment on Cook’s improvement, but more so when they comment on our friendship and rapport within the Cook family. A huge part of that family are our writers and photographers who, at a moment’s notice are always eager to share their time and knowledge to our readers. Our advertisers, some dating back when Cook started have also been very supportive and encouraging. All these push us to further improve on our magazine and on our 15th year, you, our readers can expect an even better Cook.
Thank you for an amazing 15 years. Here’s to a better, more exciting 15 more!
